I was checking back on this thread, and I realized I made a grave
error. I sent my reply to the board list, but not sudo-discuss, and
Whitney is not on the board list. Sorry Whitney! Here is my reply with
the info you asked from 4 months ago. >.<

Sudoroom incorporated last year as a California Nonprofit, which is
structured with the intent to apply for federal 501c3. This year we
officially decided to do it, after many months of arguing over whether
other subsections (501c4, etc) were a better fit. But we never
actually followed up with the IRS. We still have to file our 1023 to
officially ask for 501c3 status. THEN begins the multi-year process of
waiting for approval. But we haven't even entered the waiting room
yet.

It's a very long-standing action item. Let's do it!
